The whale is one of the largest aquatic mammals known best for its enormous size and bulky weight. Whales are fully-aquatic, which means that whales complete all their life activities like mating, feeding, gaseous exchange, excretion, and down-regulation at sea. The two most dominant whale species are blue whales and sperm whales. The blue whale is roughly 98 ft. in length and 190 metric tons in weight, whereas the latter one is about 135 kilograms in weight and 8.5 ft. in length. The blue whale is considered to be the bulkiest known sea creature, whereas the sperm whale is considered to be the bulkiest toothed predator on planet Earth.

Whales may or may not have a proper set of piercing teeth. For instance, baleen whales do not possess teeth. In place of teeth, baleen whales possess enormous fringe-like structures that facilitate the expulsion of water they drink while keeping the plankton and krill inside their oral cavity. Baleen whales have oversized heads plus throat pleats that help them to fully open their mouth and intake gallons of water at a time. Furthermore, baleen whales have fully developed a sense of smell.
In comparison to baleen whales, toothed whales possess a set of conical teeth that are lucrative in catching small-sized fishes, squids, and other sea creatures.

For exhalation and inhalation of required metabolic gases, whales possess modified nostrils called blowholes on the top of their heads. For maintaining their body temperature, whales have blubber – a thick layer of fat cells that provide insulation to the body. Whales are most prevalent in marine water, but they adore cold water of the northern hemisphere and so spend major portions of their lives in cold water. When whales intend to give birth to a baby whale, they come close to equators. Female members are reportedly heavier in comparison to male members of the species.
