If you are a movie buff, then you must be familiar with the notion of superheroes in films. You would be amazed to know that some American movies have superheroines, and one of the most popular movies with a female lead as the superheroine is Supergirl. Supergirl is a story of Kara Zor-El – a young girl whose parents – Alura and Zor-EI- send him to Earth from another world to protect her youngest cousin named Kal – EI. As she was coming in, her spacecraft accidentally landed in Phantom Zone, where she had to stay for a day. Within those 24 hours that she spent in Phantom Zone, Kal-EI becomes an adult and adopts most of the major qualities of a superhero.

Within the series Supergirl, Kara is seen as a girl who is struggling to embrace change and accept her supernatural qualities. During the first season of Supergirl, Kara manipulates her supernatural powers to protect the city in which she lives, and in doing that, she unveils hundreds of criminals that her mother had told her about before her arrival on Earth. Her job on Earth is to fight off these criminal-minded people along with her sister Alex and cousin Martian Jonn Jonnz. In the next season, Kara could be seen fighting against criminals and dealing with feuds that existed between extraterrestrial communities and Earth’s native communities. In the process, Kara becomes friends with Lena Luthor, who is the CEO of LuthorCorp.

In the second season of Supergirl, Kara develops some romantic feelings for Mon-EI, who has just come from Daxam – a planet situated in the neighborhood of Krypton. All these characters are related to each other in one way or the other, and all try to find a solution to the problems that are met. Supergirl has a massive fanbase mainly because the female lead is shown with some supernatural abilities.
