Christian Koenigsegg started his own supercar company at age 22. Inspired by a Norwegian Grand Prix film, he dreamed of building his own car. He traded in his food business to fund the company, and designed a prototype himself. David Crawford then took the design and built it into a production-grade car. Ultimately, the car won several races. The Koenigsegg team topped the Formula 1 in 2003. In the early 1990s, Koenigsegg had an idea for an electronic music player that could hold a CD-size piece of data. The Cheap Player he had in mind was supposed to be cheaper than CDs. Koenigsegg went as far as preparing a patent for it. Unfortunately, this project did not work out because no one wanted to invest in a project that was not yet widely known.

While the company’s main concern is creating high-performance vehicles, it also produces a large number of road-legal cars. While most of these cars are not race cars, they are perfectly capable of completing laps on the highway and on the track. The company also invests heavily in developing their cars for the road, and their focus is more on innovation than race track success.
