The psychological thriller Joker follows the story of a comedian Arthur Fleck who strives to establish himself as a stand-up comedian. Arthur Fleck is a patient with a serious nervous disorder due to which he can’t control his laughter on different occasions. Due to his inborn disorder, he ends up in conflict with people. Arthur and his mother, Penny, live in Gotham City.
Gotham City is notorious for being home to unemployment and atrocious crimes. Arthur is in a love relationship with a single mother named Sophie Dumond. One day, Arthur invites her to witness his performance in the nightclub, which goes flat as he gets attacked by his disorder. Throughout the performance, he laughs uncontrollably for no reason.

The mystery continues in Joker story when Arthur is confronted by delinquents, and to limit such instances in the future, his colleague gives him a gun. During the performance, that gun accidentally falls out of his pant pockets, and the Joker story begins. As per reports, the film amassed more than 1 billion US dollars, and it is considered to be one of the most popular and successful Marvel movies featured in 2019. The film was acknowledged by critics, and it got nominated in 11 different categories at 92nd Academy Awards.

In August 2019, Joker film was premiered at the 76th Venice International Film Festival. At the festival, Joker was awarded Golden Lion. Two months later, it was broadcasted in the United States of America. Silver and Philips took one whole year to write the script of the film. Motion Picture Association rated the film with an R rating and made it the first Batman movie to have received an R rating. Joaquin Phoenix portrayed the lead character in the film. Phoenix proclaimed that he immediately agreed to do the role when the concept was first narrated to him as he felt that the storyline was sensational and alluring.
