The story of the Japanese anime Inuyasha is set in modernized Tokyo. The leading character Kagome Higurashi is a young girl who lives with her younger brother, grandfather, and mother in the shrine of Shinto, which is considered their family shrine. One day her cat goes missing, and to find her lost cat, she is accidentally dragged into the well-named Bone Eater’s Well. She is taken into the well by a demon who has been living in that well for years.

In the well, she discovers that the language spoken by creatures in this world is similar to the language she used to speak in her world. But the country is not modernized as much as it is before. The demon in Inuyasha who dragged her into the well was defeated by Kikyo, who was a priestess some fifty years ago. Fifty years ago, Kikyo used to take care of Shikon Jewel. Shikon Jewel is depicted as a magical, expensive artifact in the series. The owner of this magical artifact can accomplish anything they desire for. Kikyo’s corpse and this sensational jewel were burned and then dumped so they won’t be able to show their existence ever on Earth. The major reason for dumping their bodies and remains was to lessen the intensity of evil from the world, as most creatures would use this treasure for misdeeds.
