Horses belong to the family Equidae. These are hoofed, odd-toed mammals that can be trained by humans for riding and various tasks. However, horses have certain characteristic features that make them distinct from the rest of the animals; for instance, horses possess 10 distinct ear muscles, horses can not use their mouth for breathing as most animals and horses can sleep without sitting or acquiring a resting position, meaning they can complete their sleep while standing, etc. Another interesting thing to note about horses is that their eyes are incapable of recognizing red color, meaning they can not separate red color from yellow, blue, or green.
