Demon Slayer (Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba) is a Japanese manga series that aired from February 2016 to May 2020. The anime is considered one of the best anime of the 2010s. It has numerous accolades, glowing reviews, astounding revenues and an immense popularity to show off. Infact, a sequel series of 26 episodes (Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Mugen Train, released in October 2020 is the highest grossing anime film of all time. The plot of the series follows a teenage boy, Tanjiro Kamado, who goes home one night to find out his entire family has been slaughtered by a demon. Nezuko, his elder sister, and only survivor of the incident had been turned into a demon. Unlike other demons, she showed signs of thought and emotions. This gave Tanjiro hope and he started a journey to turn her into a human again, and become a demon slayer to avenge his family.
Many people wonder why Demon Slayer became so popular. The writing style, plot and theme of the manga have their credits to this, but the shocking and grim nature of the beginning episode stands out.
