About Dogs
One of the fascinating things is that whenever humans want to exemplify the loyalty level, they quote the example of dogs—quite a strange thing. Dogs are a group of vertebrates well-known for their loyal and sincere nature to their master. A young dog or a baby dog is known as a puppy. The average weight of a healthy puppy varies between 1 to 11 kg. One of the characteristic features of puppies is that they are highly social animals. From birth, they play and communicate with their mother and siblings. If they grew up in a setting where they constantly remain in touch with humans, they become friends with humans and communicate with them in their way.
Dogs undergo a long period of gestation before giving birth to many puppies at the same time. The process of giving birth to multiple puppies simultaneously is called litter, and all the puppies formed together are littermates. Weaning is evident soon after they turn one month old; they can be given solid food at this stage. If they do not want to eat solids, you can even give them semi-solid food. The first few months after the birth are spent in sleep and rest so that puppies can conserve enough energy for the rest of their lives. The newborn puppies can not fully open their two eyes for some time; however, their sense of smell is completely functional at this stage.
An adult dog is characterized by a presence of a small, upturned tail. Famous taxonomist Carlos Linnaeus coined the term ‘Canis’ for demonstrating dogs. The average lifespan of a healthy dog is roughly 10 to 14 years. Six months old or 1-year-old dog is known to be sexually active. The estrous cycle in most species starts around the age of two. Sire and Dam are scientific terms for illustrating male and female parents of a litter, respectively. They were previously thought to be the subspecies of wolves. However, reports have documented that about 11 genes are identical in both species. Dog and puppies are present worldwide; however, species differ from one part to another.
