The Japanese manga is illustrated and jotted down by Japanese writer and content creator Yuki Tabata. Since 2015, Black Clover has been serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine. Black Clover is centered around the adventures of a young boy named Asta. Asta lives in a society where everyone possesses a unique, magical power. To the surprise of everyone, Asta is born without any sort of magical power. After some time, Asta comes across Wizards, and he aspires to become Wizard King in the future. Leading character Asta is born without parents, and he grew up in an orphanage. In the orphanage, he shares an amicable relationship with another young boy Yuno. Yuno is born with the magical capability to control the wind.

In contrast, Asta is born without power as Asta has no inborn magical powers, so he works hard to develop physical strength. Both of the kids aspire to become Wizard Kings once they grow up, so they join Magic Knight Squad to polish their capabilities and learn the skills to become the next Wizard King. Inside Knight’s squad, Yuno becomes a member of Golden Dawn, and Asta becomes a member of Black Bulls. Once they become members of particular groups, they visit different places, meet other people, and experience different things. Xebec Zwei produced the first video animation of the manga. Pierrot produced the complete animated version of the manga, which was broadcasted from October 2017 to March 2021. The release of the manga in North America in English version was made possible after issuing a license by Viz Media.

The English version of the animated series was made possible in North America after issuing a license by Crunchyroll and Funimation. The first volume of anime was assigned 23rd place in Oricon manga charts. The second volume of the series was assigned 17th position after more than 60 million copies got sold. Volume 6 was given 11th position after the selling of 118,783 copies. More than 12 million copies of the manga have been sold worldwide.
