The Japanese television show Kakegurui was based on the manga Kakegurui was jotted down by Homura Kawamoto, and the illustration of the manga was handled by Toru Nomura. In 2017, the background music for closing and opening themes was composed and made public. The story of the series is centered around a renowned academy named Hyakkaou Private Academy, rooted in Japan. The fascinating thing about this academy is that only young children of wealthy families can get admission to this institution. Student Council is the authoritative body whose decisions are considered in all major matters concerning the institution.

Members of the Student Council who are experienced gamblers cherish most authority and are valued by their peers. Their decisions are considered ultimate, whereas those members who are not that good at gambling are considered lower than good gamblers. In Kakegurui, these members are authorized to do all the tasks assigned to them by the upper class of the Student Council. The main character is portrayed by a student named Yumeko Jabami, who got transferred from another city into the high school. Ryota Suzuki is the one who introduced Yumeko to other classmatesin Kakegurui series. Ryota himself is a pet gambler who has lost a gambling match to one of the best gamblers of their class Mary Saotome. Mary asks Yumeko to play with him Rock-Paper-Scissors Game. Yumeko lost this game to Mary. Yumeko requests Mary to play the game again, and this time the winner of the game would be rewarded with a cash prize of 10 million yen.

Yumeko accused Mary of winning the game by cheating, and she proclaims how Mary has manipulated the minds of classmates to help her out in reading the cards. The Kakegurui story goes on with a variety of variations and challenges. On 1st July 2017, the first episode of the first season of the series was featured on Tokyo MX and the first season ended in September 2017.
