Nezuko Kamado is one of the main characters from the horror Japanese series Demon Slayer. In the television adaptation, Nezuko is featured as a young girl who shared a home with her parents and six siblings. She has a close association with all members of her family as she is the second-born child. The family is not financially stable and independent, but they were happy together and cherished each little moment. Things start to alter when one day, a demon hijacks the house and massacres all the members except Tanjiro and Nezuko as they were not at home when the demon came in. The demon Kibutsuji did not harm Nezuko but transformed her body into the body of a demon.

After the shocking transformation took place, Nezuko started to feel cravings for the blood of humans, and she could not control her cravings as this was the only mode of survival. She could not survive without feeding on human flesh, so she attacked her brother Tanjiro but did not kill him. Tanjiro afterward takes an oath to himself that he would go to any extent to converse the personality of his elder sister. Initially, Nezuko was reluctant to the decision of Tanjiro, but she agreed after some time passed. Both of them then go on a mission to find a cure for Nezuko and to exterminate the demon who has caused so much pain to their family members. Nezuko was featured as a young, responsible, and caring girl who used to help out her mother with home tasks and management.

These qualities remained intact after she got assaulted by the demon. She was a selfless girl and remained so after being transformed into a demon. Apart from that, she retained human sentiments and feelings after the transition meaning that there were instances where she would cry like a human and laugh aloud like a human.
